The Headpiece That Started It All

As you all know, Matthew&Melka is the only premiere, high-end designer headpiece that launched a thousand minions of headpiece designers in the Philippines. MnM is also the first to augment the huge void in the head-wear category in the country.

To set things clear and I know a lot of people would raise their eyebrows on this. But we were never inspired by the Gossip Girl mania that swept the whole world several years ago. To be honest, I never heard of Gossip girl or its muse Blair even before we started making headpieces. We opened our multiply shop December of 2007 and started selling headpieces to family and friends (of the arm-twisting kind hehe).

I am not the least affected when people "accuse" us of riding the gossip girl trend. Don't get me wrong, I am forever grateful to Blair and Jennifer (Behr) for opening doors for a lucrative head wear industry, but give us some credit if you may, for we always try to create headpieces that are uniquely MnM. Uniquely Filipino.

To prove our point, here is the "MARIEL HEADPIECE" that we created specially for Mariel Rodriguez July of 2008. Our very first design that launched our career as serious headpiece designers. (A big career jump from our backyard efforts several months ago.) It is unique, playful and sophisticated at the same time.

I still love this piece.

Would you agree if I launch a re-issue of this design but in different, gem-colored fabrics and shining shimmering crystals at the center instead of acrylic gems?
